A cosy Halloween-inspired polymer clay jewellery workshop

Come spend a Sunday afternoon making your own polymer clay earrings and charms in the cosy little world of The Dale Library.

We're taking a little inspiration from Halloween, but keeping things simple enough that you'll actually want to wear your creations all year round. Think interesting shapes, textures, moody colours and subtle spooky little details.

And you don't need to know what you're doing. That's kind of the point.

WHAT ARE WE MAKING?

You'll learn the basics of working with polymer clay and have a play with different shapes, colours and textures.

You'll make 3 sets of earrings, including:

  • 1 ร— Mini Dangle Chain Set
A fun little set using mini cutters to create a string of custom charms

    2 ร— Statement Earring Sets
Design and create your own Halloween-inspired statement earrings

You'll also have a selection of little charms to play with.

Pair of long gold-tone dangle earrings with glittery cream, orange, burgundy, brown, and maroon diamond-shaped pendants.
Black and red circular drop earrings with silver cross charms

YOU'LL LEARN

  • Working with polymer clay

  • Using clay cutters to create clean shapes

  • Adding texture and detail

  • Combining colours and shapes

  • Working with jewellery findings

  • Creating and assembling your own designs

All the basics are supplied, including polymer clay, tools, earring attachments and charms, so you don't need to go out and buy a whole craft cupboard before you've even started.

You'll just need to bring yourself. And potentially a drink.

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED

If you've never touched polymer clay before, you're exactly who this is for.

We'll go through the basics together, including using cutters, adding texture and putting your earrings together with jewellery findings.

There's no right or wrong design. You can copy some of the examples, make something completely your own, or change your mind halfway through. That's all part of it.

It's a pretty relaxed afternoon.

A LITTLE SUNDAY CRAFT SESSION

The idea is simple: make some nice things, have a drink, eat some snacks and hang out with other creative people.

You can come with a friend, bring someone who wants to learn something new, or come on your own and meet some people.

The workshop is deliberately beginner-friendly, relaxed and social, with plenty of guidance along the way.

BYO alcohol is welcome. Tea, coffee and a few snacks will be provided. If you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements, just let us know beforehand.

There's also a very good chance you'll meet Abbie, our fluffy and extremely social Maltipoo, who considers herself an important part of the studio team.

WHY POLYMER CLAY?

I've actually been playing with polymer clay since I was a kid.

I used to make little miniatures with my Nana, so I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it. When I first moved to Sydney more than 15 years ago, I also started making and selling some of my own jewellery at markets and to friends.

These days I work as an educational graphic designer and Studio Manager at The Dale, and I spend a lot of my spare time making, painting, crafting or generally finding an excuse to start another creative project.

This workshop brings all of those things together: polymer clay, statement jewellery, teaching, creativity and my love of a good cosy crafternoon.
