We have 26 seamless paper backdrop colours in 2.75 m wide rolls. Colours include neutrals (Black, Dark Grey, Light Grey, White), pinks (Baby Pink, Pink, Hot Pink, Rose Pink, Crimson), purples (Purple Mauve, Light Purple, Royal Purple), blues (Pastel Blue, Light Blue, Medium Blue, Royal Blue, Navy Blue), greens (Forest Green, Teal, Chroma Green, Khaki Green), and warm tones (Yellow, Yellow Orange, Orange, Spice Brown, Brown).

How much does it cost to use a paper backdrop at The Dale Studio?

Paper backdrops are free to use in-studio as a background. If you need to stand on the paper or your setup causes damage, we charge $25 per metre of damaged paper, rounded to the nearest half metre. Each roll typically has about 1 m to 1.5 m of pre-existing damage at the start, which is marked by us.

What size are the seamless paper rolls?

All our paper backdrop rolls are 2.75 m wide. The length varies per roll. If you need a specific length for your shoot, let us know in advance.

Can I hire paper backdrops for off-site use?

Yes. You have two options for off-site paper backdrops. Option one: $25 off-site hire charge plus any damage charge plus $50 for a mounting system (2 C-stands, 2 shot bags, and clamps). Option two: purchase a cut measurement of paper at $25 per metre (up to 4 m), which is yours to keep. Full rolls must be picked up in a car that fits a 2.8 m long box. Delivery is not available.

What is the mounting bundle for paper backdrops?

The mounting bundle is $50 and includes 2 C-stands, 2 shot bags, and 1 set of clamps. It is designed for mounting paper backdrops at off-site locations. All mounting equipment is free to use inside The Dale Studio.

Do I need to tell you which paper backdrop I used?

Yes. If you use a paper backdrop colour during your in-studio session, please leave it aside at the end of your shoot and let us know which colour you used. If you require a specific colour, let us know before your booking, as we cannot guarantee availability of every colour at all times.

What counts as damage to a paper backdrop?

Damage includes footprints, folds, rips, punctures, stains, and any other marks on the paper. Damage is charged at $25 per metre, measured from the start of the clean paper to the end of the damaged section, rounded to the nearest half metre.

Do you have a chroma green screen paper backdrop?

Yes. We have a Chroma Green seamless paper backdrop (2.75 m wide roll) for green screen compositing and video production. It is free to use in-studio. Damage charges apply if the paper is stood on or damaged during use.

Can I use a paper backdrop for full-length portraits?

Yes, but standing on the paper may cause damage. If you need the paper to extend onto the floor for full-length shots, be aware that footprints and scuff marks count as damage and will be charged at $25 per metre. Consider using a different surface under your subject's feet where possible.

Are the paper backdrop colours accurate on the website?

We have taken care to photograph each colour under simple studio lighting conditions. However, colours may look slightly different to the naked eye or under your own lighting setups. You are welcome to visit the studio to see the paper backdrops in person before booking.

What backdrops are best for corporate headshots?

For corporate headshots, our most popular paper backdrop colours are White, Light Grey, Dark Grey, and Navy Blue. These neutral tones provide a clean, professional look. Light Blue and Medium Blue are also popular for a slightly softer corporate feel.

Where do I pick up paper backdrops for off-site hire?

Paper backdrops are picked up from The Dale Studio at 27-39 Abercrombie Street, Chippendale NSW 2008. Full rolls are 2.8 m long, so you need a vehicle that can fit the box. We are not responsible for transport damage. Delivery is not available.

Can I purchase paper instead of hiring it?

Yes. You can purchase a cut measurement of paper at $25 per metre, up to 4 m maximum. The cut paper is yours to keep. This is a good option if you want a fresh piece for a specific shoot or do not want to return the roll.

Our paper backdrops are free to use on-site. They are on display in the cyc studio, and you are welcome to use them throughout your shoot. If you’re shooting in the Loft, you MUST request colours prior to your booking.
If you use a colour, please leave it aside at the end of your shoot and let us know you used it.
Any damage will be charged at $25 per metre.
If you require a specific colour, please let us know before your booking, as we cannot guarantee it will be on site.
Damage/usage is charged at $25 per metre (rounded to the nearest half metre). This measurement is taken from either the cut end, or studio mark, up to the position of the ‘damage’.
Examples of damage are (but not limited to); footprints, folds, rips, punctures, stains, etc.
Each roll often have about 1m-1.5m of ‘damaged’ paper at the start of it, this is known and marked by the studio. You are welcome to use this area, or turn over and use the other side, free of charge.
If you’d like to hire our paper rolls outside of the studio, you have 2 options;
1. $25 off site hire charge + damage charge + $50 mounting system (2 x c-stands, 2 x shot bags and 1 x clamp) (optional) per day. or,
2. you can purchase a cut measurement of paper at $25/m (up to 4m), this is yours to keep
